Day 2 of Sourdough Starter, April 1
Prep Time: Less than 5 minutes
After sitting out overnight, your starter should look bubbly like this:
Up close and personal, it looks like this:
Up close and personal, it looks like this:
Day 2, Step 1Stir your starter smooth with a wooden or plastic spoon and then add 1 cup milk (don't measure in a metal cup - use glass or plastic).
Day 2, Step 2
Add 1/2 cup sugar.
Day 2, Step 3
Add 1 cup bread flour (again, all-pupose is okeedokee, Smokey).
Day 2, Step 4
Stir until smooth.
Day 2, Step 5
Cover loosely and place in the fridge (in my case on top of last week's pizza box.)
I don't usually have room in my fridge for this large a bowl so I generally will put it at this stage into a large, tall tupperware type container (like you see the bread flour in at step 3). Rubbermaid pitchers work great. I am lucky enough to have two refrigerators, so for the sake of pretty pictures, I will leave this batch in the bowl for now.
See you back here tomorrow, my sourdough Beauties!

Wow, yum! Can't wait to see the finished product. And I love that you have Doris Day playing.
Thanks! I love Doris! You know you can't go wrong with the classics! But I chose these songs for their lyrical content pertaining to our family. Was that statement too analytical?
You are making this look so easy.
It IS so easy! No one need be intimidated.
