The Big Reveal

While dying my hair is something I used to do frequently to mix things up a bit, it isn't something I do regularly.  Because you know... once you start...

But I've had this box of dye sitting under my sink for a while, and it was growing impatient.  Each time I opened the cabinet I could hear a little "pick me!" coming from it's dark, bottle-cluttered recesses.

Last weekend, I finally relented.

I suppose the real reason behind my aversion to action, was that the color I had bought wasn't really the sort of color I usually choose.  It was a dark chocolaty brown.  I kept debating whether to just take it back to the store or not.  Finally I just decided to take the plunge.  I mean, my hair is already brown, how bad could it be?  Right?!

Well... my hair has grown a lot.  It's quite long these days.  It's thicker than it looks, too.  And it came out JET BLACK.  But not completely.  I had patches of my natural chestnut peeking through.  Nice.  I looked like I could be related to this fine creature.
He's lovely.  But it didn't work so well on me.

So, since one of the reasons I kept putting off dying was because Shane likes my hair RED, I bought two more boxes of hair dye.  Reddish-brown this time.  (Sorry no pics of my blotchy black hair.)

So... What do you think?
It's... different...

I think it really brings out your eyes! I was doing a reddish brown for a while, but decided to do the dark brown look. So, I looked like Snow White the first day, but the second day, after my shower it looked so natural. I like it better that way. Red was not for me. (Guess you need a tan!)

Love it!

Welcome to the two-box haircolor club for women. I've been a member since, um, age 16?? Thick + length =double the price to dye your hair. Love the color!

Looks great, I once tried red and wound up with a splotchy mess. I was a teenager then and it was right before prom. My hair has pretty much been brown for a few years. Having kids means no time for hair. I finally have a gal that comes to my house to cut it. That makes it super convenient. We do it during nap time. You always look beautiful, with all the different shades I have seen you in.

Ohhhh it looks fabulous! I am so jealous, I tried convincing my hairdresser to let me go strawberry blonde and, well I may have to do it on my own!

Oooohhh...I really like it. I think it looks very natural and thats what I like in a hair dye. I'm not big for the skunk stripes (not to be confused with the tortiese shell cat, ha!). Really you look smashing! Good for you for being brave. I am SOOO not!

I love your hair color! I always hate my hair after it gets done, but after a few days, after the shock, I start to really like it.

I have no idea why, but this is truly one of my fears in life. I just get so completely scared of dying my hair.

Questions pop up in my mind, I'm sure you can imagine.

You ARE brave, and your hair turned out great...AND you got a couple of really nice shots of yourself there in the slide show. I even stopped a bit when I saw them and said in my mind, "OH, that's a good one."

Am I not supposed to share EVERYTHING I think?

I am afraid of the day I have to dye. For now I still pluck. Too bad a woman can't look as grand as Tom did. Gray looks so good on men.

You've really got a great color going, way to figure it out.
