Peas and Snow, with a bit of Luck

On the Sunday before Christmas, Miss Meeka came home from church a little under the weather.

She was so snuggly!

But we had plans to go for an evening bike ride as a family (and she didn't want to miss it), so we bundled her up and gave her a very special treat.

Yes.  I know.  But they are her favorite!

We set her on the back of my bike with her warm, green treat, and headed out.

Night Rider.

We also made some special cookie deliveries.

The evening was fun, and included Shane showing off

On the way home, we noticed something

We had to get closer...

because it isn't every day in the desert that you can play
in snow.

The snow even cheered my little sickling,

although she didn't feel well enough to play in it.

But that's okay.
We brought the snow to her.

And then she was worn out and wanted to lay down.  Of course the big kids weren't ready to leave... so we made her a little bed
where she could get comfy.

Nevan and Mayzie wanted to stay

and play,

but it was late.  I promised them they could come back first thing after breakfast the next morning.

And I always keep my promises.

Nevan thought it would be nice to wear his roller skates.

Even I got in on the fun!

We had a great time.  Just the three of us.

In fact, that's where the kids spent the next few days.

Lucky for us, the church that meets at the elementary school on the next road over trucked in 40 tons of snow for their congregation to play in.  Lucky for us, it was an unusually cold few days of December in Phoenix, and so it took some time to melt.  Lucky for us, we discovered it on our little bike ride.  Lucky for us, it was like Christmas come early.  Lucky for us, we have proper snow skates.
Yes, we are very lucky.

Very lucky, indeed.

How fun! Lucky you guys! Snow in Gilbert!
Had to laugh when I read that Meeka's favorite treat is peas-it's one of Emily's too. She would take a cup of frozen veggies any day over a cookie!

Hi, I found you on SITS. This is so cool. I'm from Florida. I didn't know you could truck in snow but I sure would like to play in some with my family. But, I don't see that happening. :-) You were very lucky.

Wow, I don't get the whole trucking-in some snow bit on the part of the church, but I'm glad that you got to benefit from it! I think I could stand to play in snow if it wasn't quite so cold outside.

And peas? Haha!

Oh...I've got to pass your blog on to my sister, she lived in Gilbert and Queens Creek for a few years. She's now back in Utah and trying to get used to the cold.

They truck in snow??? THat's the craziest thing I think I've heard. But fun, I guess. I wish they'd truck away my snow so I could go on a bike ride. And your socks and shoes remind me of something from Wizard of OZ. So CUTE!! I want some sassy striped socks and rockin red shoes now.
