I feel like a winner!

I wouldn't say I've ever been... er... lucky.

For the first 5 years of our marriage I was bound and determined to change that fact through diligence.

Enter my obsession with the Publisher's Clearinghouse.

I just knew, that if I licked enough of those little stamps, and was careful to mark and fill all the right boxes, that I would indeed open my door to find Ed McMahon and the Prize Patrol waiting to shake my hand;  Balloons, camera crew, giant check, and all.

You think I am joking...  au contraire.

On those extra-large Publisher's Clearinghouse envelopes, it always stated what day the winner would be announced.

I marked my calendar.

I made sure I was home.

And showered.  (It was going to be on TV, afterall.)

Unlike the millions of Americans who didn't even notice the coming and going of sweepstakes, I noticed.  I knew when I hadn't won.

*sigh*

Eventually I hit upon the fact that I was uncommonly blessed, but not uncommonly blessed with luck.  I was okay with that.  Happy even.

Then blogging came into my world.  And giveaways.

I figured my chances of winning a bloggy giveaway  between a few hundred people was so much better than those of the sweepstakes variety.  I started entering again.  I'm sure I've entered hundreds in the past year and a half.

Didn't win any.

That is, I didn't win any until a few weeks ago.  And it was a "Totally Trish" thing to win, too.

If you know me in real life, you know that in real life, I am always in an apron.  Always.  I have even been caught at the grocery store, park, school, and church in my aprons.  I LOVE aprons.  Maybe a little too much.

So, when Liz at A Giveaway A Day posted a giveaway from Boojiboo, I naturally entered.  And, just as naturally, I expected nothing.

When I got Liz's email stating that I had won, I read it twice, certain that it was a trick of my eyes, but I sent her my address anyway.

I went through my week, trying not to get my hopes too high about receiving my apron, but I couldn't help but remember that it was coming.  I didn't want to be overly anxious and check my mail every day, like a girl waiting for her date on the front porch.  I wouldn't want to appear... er... desperate.  After a few had passed, I decided it was time to check my mail.  I'm cool.

I couldn't find the mailbox key.

A few more days went by...

still no mailbox key.

Finally, the day before Shane's birthday, I found it under the driver's seat of  my car.  Whew.
At last, my very first winning of anything ever was here!  I was so excited to find my box from Boojiboo when I checked the mail that I think I did the "I'm a winner!" dance right there in the cul-de-sac.

And here it is, so adorable.

These adorable apronAlign Centers come in many imaginative fabrics.  I liked this one best.  It's retro-quirky just like me.

Thank you Liz for hosting fun giveaways, that even the unlucked can luck-out on.  Thank you Boojiboo for this beautiful apron!  It's already getting used and abused!

Clearly my luck is changing.
I'm off to check the door for Ed McMahon...
