Calling all angels! Come in, angels!

If the next blog post were a mile long...
...then I am an inch away from the finish.

And I've been there for a week.

Do YOU have those weeks? I've had that kind of month! But honestly! I can't figure out where the time has gone. To facebook, I suppose.

Really, unfortunately. Sad, but true.

Where I used to spend ten minutes here or there editing photos and readying recipes, Now I am not. I regret that I have put little effort into blogging of late. Granted I have been busy. Busy, busy, busy, busy. But still... *long sigh* I'd rather be here. *even longer sigh*

I feel rather like Ol' Bilbo: "like butter scraped over too much bread." And so, once again, despite my desires, the blog is taking a back burner. I hope this changes next week, but we shall see.

Does anyone still read my blog, anyhow?

I will sum up the week with a quick update on Meeka. She started Kindergarten on Monday.

I cried all day long.

She didn't cry at all.

Wasn't it just yesterday that she looked like this?!
Tuesday I devoted to the complete and utter disolvement of my pity party.

I spent the entire day baking.

I cupcaked and cupcaked and cupcaked.

Wednesday was used to deliver cupcakes and cupcakes and cupcakes. That was all I did on Wednesday. It took THE ENTIRE school day. It's amazing how much time can be devoted to the delivering of a few cupcakes here and a few cupcakes there, unannounced and unexpected. There were over 70, so it really was a feat.

Thursday was a marvelous day. Shane and I took 84 family names to the Temple and did all of the sealings in a single session. There is only one word for that kind of date: WONDERFUL. I told Shane that it was one of my favorite days I had ever spent with him, and we've been together for about 14 years.

And today, Friday, I did the whole PTO/Volunteer thing, spent some wonderful time with Shane (unemployment has it's occasional perks-- more time together) and then ended the day with a late night dip in the pool with the kids.

Now, my question for you (if you're still reading this neglected blog) is this: Do you know of anyone who wants to hire the best civil engineer in the world? He's an absolutely wonderful guy, stellar engineer, and he knows the lyrics to every They Might Be Giants song ever recorded. Can you get any MORE qualified than that?! But, really. We need a job. Preferably somewhere besides the Middle East, but honestly, we'll take anything at this point.

This is where the angel calling comes in to play.

Can you help? Can you ask your spouses if they know of anyone? Can you ask your neighbors? Cousins? Bloggy friends? What might take you 2 minutes to inquire about, could help us in a major way. We really, really need work. And YOU could be the angel who helps us find the answer to our prayers. So, PLEASE, ask your spouse, ask your neighbors, ask your relatives and friends.

Do they know of ANY Civil Engineering jobs available anywhere in the world?

Shane's expertise includes, but is not limited to:
• Site Planning
• Grading & Drainage
• Potable Water Distribution Design
• Sewer Collection Design
• Client and Municipality Communication and Coordination
• Engineer’s Cost Estimates
• Proposals and Contracts
• Sub-Consultant Coordination
• Staff Management, Development and Motivation
He has been a Licensed Professional Engineer in Arizona for 9 years and is also licensed in Utah, and Nevada and could become so anywhere with a little paperwork.

Regardless of if you know of any jobs, can I ask one more favor of you?

Will you pray for us?

I have a strong testimony of the power of prayer. It works. There is no room for doubt in this home any more. We've seen miracles.

And that is that. Shane's not home at the moment. He doesn't know I'm sticking this up here. But I don't think he will mind. I don't think. I hope not, anyhow. ;) But please... ask the PE's you know. Pray for the Kobialka's, and I will keep you updated should we have any changes. And I still promise to post the blackberry-lemon-lime bars. I haven't forgotten my promises, they're just being set aside at the moment. ;)

Thanks so very much. <3

I will ask and pray for you!! (Although I might be selfish and pray you to I.F.)

On a different note, I don't know what's up with my blog. It won't let you comment and it didn't tell me you had posted this. Something's fishy.

Dear Trish, You don't know me, and I don't know you... well, except for the fact that I read your blog and am a humble student of your baking expertise. However, I want to thank you for sharing your testimony about your time at the temple, and want you to know that your family will be in my prayers. Thank you for all the fun things you write... you have an adorable family.

PS - Thank you for your cupcake/filling/frosting recipes. My husband's marshmallow-filled, white chocolate whipped cream-frosted birthday cupcakes were a hit!

You know you're all in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sending all of my good thoughts, prayers and wishes your way!

We've been through very similar times and I can only say that things can be tough, but love really does help keep it all together sometimes. Never forget the power of that alone!

Love you all!

Hey there! In addition to my prayers...check out USAjobs, I just did a quick search (not sure this link will work: http://jobsearch.usajobs.gov/Search.aspx?fn=4439&lid=316&sort=rv%2c-dtex&vw=d&paygrademin=12&paygrademax=15&re=134&FedEmp=N&FedPub=Y&caller=series.aspx) and there are a couple civil engineering jobs on the west coast. You can adjust the job search criteria and remember they list the low end salary, but its adjustable based on experience, etc. Shoot me an email if you want to discuss writing the resume, etc to get through the system!

Unemployment does have it's perks. We've been there, and it's seems like half the people we know are there now.

Things always work out. You will definitely survive this, and we will add you to our prayers. It's worked for lots of our neighbors and frieds :)

Good luck Trish and Shane.

Fax his resume to TLC Plumbing and Utility, Attn: HR 505-761-9875. I don't know if they're looking for a civil engineer, but they may be able to help. Good luck. Love your blog
